Two Tone DIY Jeans

Ticked tie-dye off the list of quarantine activities and looking for another way to customise your clothes? Two tone jeans is the next natural step and there is a couple different approaches you can take.

The first technique is bleaching which has the best effect on blue jeans and the second is dying which is more suited to grey jeans. I went for the dying technique but they both work the same.

Mix up the dye or prepare the bleach and put into a application bottle with a precision nozzle. Using a strong tape which wont absorb the dye, tape up the boarder of the side you don't want to dye to prevent it leaking over. For extra protection wrap up that leg in a plastic bag and tape in in place. Place down a plastic sheet to prevent the dye getting onto the table.

Apply the dye or bleach to the damp fabric of the leg you want to dye, ensuring it is fully covered and even throughout. Wrap it up once you're happy with it to prevent spreading. For bleach leave it on for around 30 minutes and dye around 8 hours to ensure maximum effect. Rinse out and wash without detergent, if you are using dye put some salt in to help it hold. Let them air dry and you're done!
