Fashion: Sheer Embellishment

A key theme in the likes of Alexander McQueen and Valentino's designs of recent years is the lack of fabric involved in the designs, there has been a takeover of embellishment which has been dominating the runway for the past few years. The incredibly detailed looks have been almost distracting from the garment itself grabbing all the attention as they rest so gently on the sheer fabric underneath.

I particularly love it when a whole dress is decorated with beautiful florals and colourful prints, as well as showing a side of fun and playfulness it creates a sense of pure luxury and really emphasises the skill required to create such a garment.

Although they are most seen as a summer dress, mainly because of the colours and florals, they can also be adapted to suit winter styles. This can be done by adding layers of fabric and using a darker colour palette. Metallics and sparkles, when used right, can also create a festive mood, due to its links with Christmas time this makes these garments perfect for winter parties and events.
